Welcome!

Hello! Happy Holidays! You've found it – Gary and Abbey's Japan trip travel journal.

It's in blog format because blogs like this are the only way I know how to publish online for free. Each journal entry is a blog post, and I've posted the journal entries in reverse order, since blogs are always “most recent post at the top.” So you should be able to scroll down and read about the trip in order - from this post to the next one, which will be the first journal entry, and then to the second one, below that, and so forth, to the last post which should be the last entry.

Not that it matters whether these are read in order. I'm not a very disciplined journal-writer, and often entries are all over the place. So read it any way you like.

I write a journal during almost every trip I take; it's a way of mediating, or processing, the trip – organizing it in my mind and examining what effects it has on me. It also helps with remembering! When we left, Randall asked us to let us know how the trip was going, so we sent entries by e-mail to him and Lily and Whitsun – which is why I refer to Abbey as “Mom” in the earlier entries. Then some other folks asked to be included, so I changed to “Abbey.”

If you want to embiggen any of the pictures, just click on them.

Enjoy! We'd love to hear your comments about the things we saw and the adventures we had. It's a blog, so you can comment directly on any post.
